Tension / gauge : 19sts/10cm for K2P2 ribbing on 3.75mm needles, after blocking (the yarn relaxed quite a bit so it's worth doing a tension square.)

(Any stretchy cast on, such as the long tail cast on, will do.) -

Extra Large: (K3, K2 tog) to last 4 sts, K to end of round. Stitch Count: 148sts -
Knit 4 (4, 5, 5) rounds.

Large: (K2, K2tog) to last 3 sts, knit to end of round.

K2tog until 12 stitches remain.

Leaving a 10cm tail, cut the yarn. Either use a darning needle to thread through the remaining stitches and pull closed or graft (Kitchener stitch) the remaining stitches together.

Weave in ends and close up the small gap in the ribbing in the brim of the hat.
